The graduate of the Department of Environment of the Ionian University, who is designated as a Graduate Environmental Scientist (P.E.), may be employed in both the public sector (as a P.E. Environmental Scientist) and the private sector.Their main professional and/or research activities may involve one (or a combination) of the following areas:
the preparation, drafting, and evaluation of Environmental Impact Assessments,
conducting environmental quality control and monitoring,
implementation and supervision of waste management and treatment methods,
implementation and supervision of pollution control methods,
utilization of Renewable Energy Sources,
assessment of Climate Change impacts,
design and evaluation of environmental policies,
management of environmental systems,
preparation and implementation of studies for the assessment, monitoring, and sustainable management of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems,
processing, modeling, and analysis of environmental and geographical data,
evaluation and management of natural and cultural heritage elements,
environmental education and communication.
Graduates are able to operate competitively in the above fields, both in basic and applied research.
