The MA in Linguistics offers a rigorous combination of teaching and research, emphasizing the connection between theoretical linguistics and practical applications. The MA in Linguistics aims to: Provide a robust foundation in theoretical linguistics, computational linguistics, and experimental studies. Foster scientific knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Equip students with competencies valued in the contemporary job market and doctoral studies. Students have opportunities to participate in departmental research projects and present their work at internationally recognized conferences and journals in linguistics and cognitive studies. Duration of studies: Full-time: 4 semesters Part-time: 7 semesters The teaching of the MA courses may be conducted in person for a minimum of 75% of the programme or via modern distance learning methods for a maximum of 25%. Credits required: 120 ECTS The MA in Linguistics is tuition-free and open to graduates of Greek universities or technical universities (former T.E.I.), as well as equivalent institutions abroad. The top-ranked candidate in the entrance examinations (minimum grade: 8.5/10) will receive the "Efthymios Koumentakis" Excellence Award, including a cash prize of €1,000. Students may apply for University of Crete scholarships based on academic performance during their studies. Upon enrollment in the MA programme, postgraduate students are entitled to apply to the University of Crete for free accommodation and meals, provided they meet the relevant income and other criteria.
