The Interinstitutional MA Program "Theater and Film Studies" is co-organized by the Department of Philology of the University of Crete and the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas. The program focuses on the scholarly study of the history and theory of theater and cinema. It is open to graduates of all disciplines who are interested in specializing in the research and scholarly exploration of these two arts. It provides training suitable for employment in the public and private sectors as well as for participation in research projects and pursuit of doctoral studies. Admission to the Interinstitutional MA Program "Theater and Film Studies" is through examination. It is conducted through a blended learning system, with 75% synchronous distance teaching and 25% face-to-face teaching. The duration of the program is 4 semesters for full-time studies and 7 semesters for part-time studies. The total number of ECTS required for obtaining the Master’s Degree is 120. The program is free of charge. The top performer in the entrance examinations will receive an excellence award from the Efthymios Koumentakis Donation, along with a cash prize of €1,000. Graduate students can apply for scholarships from the Institute for Mediterranean Studies and the University of Crete, based on their performance in the program. In addition, upon their admittance to the program, eligible students may apply to the University of Crete for free meals and accommodation.
