Silver Economy: Economy, Society and Innovation in Longevity Master's
Master's
The Inter-Institutional Master’s Programme (M.Sc.) “SILVER ECONOMY: ECONOMY, SOCIETY AND INNOVATION IN LONGEVITY” is a joint initiative of the Department of Geography at Harokopio University and the Department of Economic and Regional Development at Panteion University. The programme aims to address a significant scientific and educational gap in Greece in a field that is becoming increasingly important due to demographic ageing and the rapid growth of the Silver Economy.
Longevity is reshaping every aspect of economic and social life, creating both new challenges and substantial opportunities. Within the programme, the Silver Economy is approached not only as a response to population ageing, but also as a strategic pathway towards sustainable economic and social development. The programme embraces this perspective by establishing a new field of knowledge and practice that responds to the contemporary needs of Greek society and economy.
The programme has a strongly interdisciplinary character, combining perspectives from Economics, Demography, Sociology, Geography, Regional Development and Public Policy. Its objective is to educate specialized scientists and professionals capable of analysing, designing and implementing policies, services, business initiatives and innovative solutions related to longevity and populations aged 60 and over.
The programme connects teaching with research and the labour market through applied courses, data analysis, case studies, seminars, guest lectures and the completion of a master’s thesis. It is addressed both to young scientists and to professionals seeking specialization in a new and critical field for the economy, society and public policy.
The Master's program is organized into four (4) semesters for full-time students and eight (8) semesters for part-time students.
