The Postgraduate Studies Programme (MSc) in “Thrombosis and Antithrombotic Therapy” offered by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Thessaly aims to provide advanced, specialized scientific education to healthcare professionals and researchers in the pathophysiological mechanisms, prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic management of thrombotic disorders. The programme focuses on contemporary approaches to arterial and venous thrombosis, as well as the rational and evidence-based application of antithrombotic therapy in everyday clinical practice. Particular emphasis is placed on the pharmacology of anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents, individualized therapeutic strategies, the assessment of thrombotic and bleeding risks, and the prevention and management of treatment-related complications. Furthermore, the programme seeks to foster clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and research competencies, enabling graduates to interpret emerging scientific evidence and implement evidence-based therapeutic strategies for the effective management of patients with thrombotic diseases. Through its interdisciplinary approach, the programme promotes collaboration among healthcare professionals from different medical and scientific disciplines, contributing to improved clinical decision-making, patient safety, and the overall quality of healthcare services. The curriculum addresses a broad spectrum of thrombotic and cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and atrial fibrillation, as well as the perioperative and periprocedural management of antithrombotic therapy. The programme also incorporates clinical case-based learning and the preparation of a master's thesis, encouraging the integration of theoretical knowledge, clinical expertise, and scientific research.
